Premium Ultrafine Coated Ground Calcium Carbonate, 2500 to 3000 Mesh, Stearic Acid Coated
K-GCC-C1.5 is the finest of the five grades. It is milled to 2500 to 3000 mesh and coated with stearic acid. Its median particle size is 1.5 to 1.7 µm and its top size is 5 to 6 µm.
It is intended for uses where very few coarse particles can be tolerated.

Fineness
What this fineness is suited to.
A D50 of 1.5 to 1.7 µm and a D97 of up to 5 to 6 µm gives a very low top size. That matters in thin plastic film, where a coarse particle can show as a defect, and in premium masterbatch and sealants. The stearic acid coating helps it disperse in the polymer.
Mesh
2500 to 3000 mesh
Mesh is a sieve based name for fineness. A higher mesh number means a finer powder.
D50
1.5 to 1.7 µm
D50 is the median particle size. Half of the particles are smaller than this figure and half are larger.
D97
max 5 to 6 µm
D97 is the size below which 97% of the particles fall. It describes the coarse end of the powder, so a lower D97 means fewer large particles.
