Fine Uncoated Ground Calcium Carbonate, 1500 Mesh
K-GCC-U3 is ground to 1500 mesh, with a median particle size of 3 µm and a top size of 10 to 12 µm.
It sits in the middle of the uncoated range, finer than K-GCC-U5 and coarser than K-GCC-U2.

Fineness
What this fineness is suited to.
A D50 of 3 µm and a D97 of up to 10 to 12 µm means few coarse particles. That gives a smoother film in paint and a smoother finish in adhesives and sealants, and it suits paper where a fine, bright filler is wanted.

Mesh is a sieve based name for fineness. A higher mesh number means a finer powder.
D50
3 µm
D50 is the median particle size. Half of the particles are smaller than this figure and half are larger.
D97
max 10 to 12 µm
D97 is the size below which 97% of the particles fall. It describes the coarse end of the powder, so a lower D97 means fewer large particles.
